I was searching online one day for more vaseshipping paraphernalia to add to my site, when I came across a website called "TV Tropes". According to the website, tropes are defined as: storytelling devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations.

I managed to land on an article named "Fandom Specific Plot", in which it mentions that fan fiction tropes can be defined into one of two categories; it is the second of these two pairings (the parameters of the second category being defined as: Plots which only work within a particular fandom or pairing, but which are incredibly common there) with which I bring to you atttention.

Apparently, in the realm of the vaseshipping fandom, the idea of Mana and/or Atemu hiding in a pot/vase is considered a Fandom Specific Plot Trope, and that this specific trope is the reasoning behind the term "vaseshipping". This led me to think: has it really been embedded and perhaps expected in the minds of readers that this is expected of vaseshipping fan fiction? Perhaps it has for most readers, heck, half the times I envision the idea of Mana and/or Atemu hiding in a pot/vase!

Perhaps vaseshipping may not be canon, but the fact of this Mana-Atemu-hiding-in-a-vase plot being considered a trope in the vaseshipping fandom makes me think that perhaps there are those who see it being possible in people's minds, which could be a plus for the vaseshipping fandom in general. Likewise, I could be interpreting it all wrong and it may mean nothing. XP

But hey, it's quite interesting how pervasive this plot device has become. :)
